Amsterdam is a city with a rich history, beautiful architecture, and a vibrant cultural scene. Whether you're interested in exploring museums and galleries, trying new foods, or simply taking in the city's picturesque canals and streets, there's something for everyone in Amsterdam.

When I told my friends that we are stopping by Amsterdam, they gave me that knowing half-smile and inquired whether we were going to check out their ‘coffee shops’ and their infamous red light district. First of all, I’m not the kind of girl who would smoke and tell. REALLY, I’m not into that kind of leisure activity. But we did check out the red light district during the early evening. It was weird to see scantily clad women in store-front windows as if you were shopping for clothes. I felt somewhat sorry for those girls. They deserve so much more. Anyways, I was actually looking forward to Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Anne Frank, the awesome canals, and of course the illustrious tulip fields.

First and foremost, Amsterdam is known for its beautiful canals.

The city is built around a series of canals, which are lined with historic buildings and dotted with houseboats. Taking a canal tour is a great way to see the city from a different perspective, and it's a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Amsterdam is a very vibrant and colorful city. I loved getting lost around the canal regions and exploring their interesting bridges. It was such an idyllic setting and best travelled on bike. I have to be honest about biking through the city. I was a bit nervous because there was so many people on bikes that I felt like I might crash into them. The thing was that the locals are very aggressive bikers. If you’re slow, they will ring their dinky bells at you to move over to the right most side. I felt like a total grandma.

Another highlight of visiting Amsterdam is the city's many museums and galleries. The Rijksmuseum, for example, is one of the most famous museums in the city and is home to an extensive collection of Dutch art and history. The Van Gogh Museum is also a must-visit, with an impressive collection of works by the famous Dutch painter.

The Van Gogh Museum have some impressive collection of works by the famous Dutch painter. I was so bummed that we didn’t make it in time to catch the tulip garden at Keukenhof before it closed for the season, but we did get a small taste from the city flower market. I had such a fabulous time here that if I had another opportunity to return I would in a heart beat.

A great way to experience Amsterdam is to rent a bike and explore the city on two wheels. Biking is a popular mode of transportation in Amsterdam, and there are plenty of bike rental shops throughout the city. Biking is a great way to see more of the city and get some exercise at the same time.

For foodies, Amsterdam is a great destination for trying new and interesting foods. The city is known for its stroopwafels, which are thin waffles filled with caramel syrup, as well as its herring sandwiches and Dutch cheese. There are also plenty of great cafes and restaurants throughout the city, serving everything from traditional Dutch dishes to international cuisine. Here are a few places that we checked out:

Finally, Amsterdam is known for its vibrant nightlife. The city is home to a number of great bars, clubs, and music venues, and there's always something going on. Whether you're interested in live music, dancing, or just grabbing a drink with friends, you'll find plenty of options in Amsterdam.

In conclusion, Amsterdam is a city with something for everyone. Whether you're interested in history, culture, food, or nightlife, you're sure to find something that appeals to you in this beautiful and vibrant city. So if you're planning a trip to Europe, be sure to add Amsterdam to your itinerary!
